The Communion of Saints

Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful. And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near. ~ Hebrews 10:23-25

It’s been an exciting week! Monday I was assigned to my fieldwork church, more properly known as our home congregation for the next two years - Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Garrett, IN. Garrett is a smaller community (a few thousand) about 20 minutes from our current residence. Accordingly, Zion is a smaller congregation, somewhat reminiscent of my childhood congregation. I met with the pastor, Rev. Keaton Christiansen, casually on Monday and will meet with him again this week to discuss my duties going forward. We attended worship there this morning, met some of the members, and I was officially installed. They are happy to have a new fieldworker, and we can’t wait to get to know our new church family.
